FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common dumpster rental FAQs include questions about size options, rental duration, permitted items, and potential damage to property. It's also important to inquire about permits, delivery and pickup procedures, and pricing structures.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of common questions:

1. What size dumpster do I need?

  • Consider the volume of waste you expect to generate from your project.
  • Rental companies offer various sizes, typically measured in cubic yards.
  • Some companies may have limitations on the height to which you can fill the dumpster.

2. How long can I rent a dumpster?

  • Rental periods vary, but many companies offer 7-10 day rentals.
  • Extensions are usually available for an additional fee.
  • Be sure to check your specific rental agreement for details.

3. What can I put in the dumpster?

  • General waste, household junk, construction debris, and yard waste are usually allowed.
  • Hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, etc.), electronics, tires, and some appliances are often prohibited.
  • Consult with the rental company for a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items.

4. Where will you put my dumpster?

  • We will need to place your roll off dumpster on a flat, paved surface.
  • For household projects, your paved driveway is typically the best location.
  • At a construction site, a designated waste area likely works. If you don't have space on your private property, we can also deliver your bin to the street.  Permits and local regulations may apply.

5. Will a dumpster damage my property?

  • Dumpsters can potentially damage driveways or landscaping due to their weight.
  • To minimize risk, ensure the dumpster is placed on a flat, stable surface.
  • Consider using plywood to protect your driveway.

6. Do I need a permit?

  • Permits are typically only required for placing a dumpster on public property like streets or sidewalks.
  • Check with your local municipality for specific regulations.

7. What are the associated costs?

  • Pricing includes delivery, rental period, and disposal fees.
  • Overweight charges may apply if you exceed the weight limit.
  • Additional fees may apply for certain materials or extended rental periods.

8. How do I schedule delivery and pickup?

  • In most cases, you don't need to be present for either delivery or pickup, provided you have clear instructions and a clear path for the driver.
  • Schedule pickup when your project is complete or when you need to receive an additional empty dumpster.

9. What happens to the waste?

  • Dumpsters are typically taken to licensed disposal facilities.
  • Some materials may be recycled or processed according to local regulations. We can discuss the specific requirements with you when you call.

10. What will my dumpster look like?

  • The exterior of your dumpsters will vary depending on our inventory at the time of delivery.
  • The color and shape may be different than the pictures you see on our website.  But rest assured that the agreed upon cubic volume will always be accurate.

11. Can I order additional dumpsters?

  • Yes, you can order as many dumpsters as needed to complete your cleanup.
  • We can deliver multiple containers to your worksite, whether you need several dumpsters at one location or one bin at multiple job sites.
  • If you fill up your dumpster before you finish your project, reach out to schedule our empty-and-return service. We’ll haul your full container to the landfill and replace it with a fresh bin, so you never have to pause your job.terior of your dumpsters will vary depending on our inventory at the time of delivery.

12. When do I pay for my dumpsters?

  • You will pay for your dumpster(s) at the time of your order.
  • Occasionally, extra charges, such as for exceeding weight limits or disposing of restricted items — may come up later. These additional fees can take up to 120 days to process.  That’s because we need to wait for final reports from both the landfill and our drivers. If these fees apply, we’ll reach out and let you know the  details as soon as they’re confirmed.

13. When will my dumpster be delivered?

  • We all hate to wait for things to show up
  • Your dumpster may arrive at any time on your delivery day.
  • We plan our routes based on fuel-efficiency.  So, unfortunately, our drivers and dispatchers can't always provide an exact arrival time.
  • For those reasons, it’s important to make sure the designated delivery location is clear of any obstacles for the entire day.

14. Will I be notified when my dumpster is delivered?

  • If you need to (or would like to) be notified of your dumpster delivery, just let us know.
  • We'll be happy to contact you as soon as possible after the driver drops off your bin.

15. What if my dumpster arrives with debris already in it?

  • This should never be the case.  All dumpsters should arrive empty
  • If debris is in your dumpster upon delivery, please take a photo of the container with the debris as soon as possible.
  • Reach out to our team and send the photo so we can keep it on file. We will take action from there.  No further action is required on your part.

16. How do I open the door of the dumpster?

  • In order to open the door on the container, first remove the safety latch or pin holding the dumpster bar in place. If your door has a chain, remove it from its slot and place it on the ground. After any safety chains, latches or pins are removed, you can lift up on the dumpster door lever and push the door open.

17. What should I do if it rains (or less likely snows)?

  • It is very important to cover your dumpster when it rains (or snows).  This will prevent extra weight being added to your bin unnecessarily. Precipitation can accumulate in your container or be absorbed by your discarded materials. If your debris becomes wet and ends up heavier than your weight limit, you’ll receive a per-ton overage fee. Covering your dumpster will help prevent these unneeded additional fees.
